About Me

Educational History:

I graduated from Brazoswood High School in Clute, Texas. Afterwards, I attended Texas State University and Brazosport College. I was awarded a degree in Business Management from Texas A&M University in 1993.

Degrees and Certifications:

I have a Bachelor's of Business Administration in Management from Texas A&M.
I returned to college at University of Houston - Clear Lake to complete my certification to teach secondary social sciences. I currently hold a Social Studies Composite certification in the state of Texas.

Professional Development:

Annually, I score the AP United States Government and Politics exam in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Current Position:

I have taught at Dayton High School since 1998. During those years I have taught World Geography, US History, US History - honors, Government, AP Government, Economics, and AP Microeconomics.

I currently teach only seniors. I teach Government, AP Government, Economics, and AP Microeconomics.

Previous Position:

I began my career in education working for Dayton High School. Before that, I sold art prints in retail and whosale markets across most of the United States, travelling extensively. I regularly apply the knowledge gained in the business world when teaching economics.

Family Information:

I have been married to my wife, Marcella, since 1993. We have one child, a girl. We have two dogs.

Personal Information:

My family hike multiple times a year. In the summer of 2013 we did a family hike to the bottom of the Grand Canyon, including my then 7 year old daughter.  Before that, I have been to the bottom of the canyon three times. The first time was a one day hike. The next two were from the north rim to the south rim. A current family goal is to hike the 97 mile Wonderland Trail around Mount Rainier in Washington state. In support of our love of the outdoors, I built my own camper.
