Current Position:

Thus far, I have engaged in two careers—management and education.  My management career began with Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. where I held several management roles.  My favorite was traveling across the United States to set up new stores.  In the area of education, my areas of expertise include business, organizational management, and English.  I have taught in the two-year setting, at the university level, and internationally.  Additionally, I have participated in a Fulbright seminar in Senegal, West Africa, spoken in South Africa, and traveled to Turkey, Serbia, and Europe.  The latter includes taking students to Italy with three other colleagues.  The most recent abroad opportunity has been teaching in North Africa for three and a half years.  Finally, I have come to truly enjoy secondary education and envision the merging of my previous experiences in this setting.

Family Information:

I am the middle child of five siblings.  We are a very close family and every 4th of July we celebrate the home going of my father who passed the year before I finished my PhD.  I am also blessed to be the mother of one son and one grand-daughter.  My children bring joy to my life and I am certain to make many trips to Dallas from Dayton to spend time with them.  Additionally, I will spend holidays with my mother in Corpus Christi; she is in her late 80s and a strong woman of faith. Many of my work habits and ethics are attributed to my mother who was a nurse for 25 years  and my father who was a supervisor for Reynolds for over 30 years.

Personal Information:

I enjoy thinking and pondering by small and large bodies of water, watching movies, writing, cooking, fishing, and cooking.  When I was a young teen, I made all of my clothes—one of my older sisters taught me how to sew.  One day, I will return to this passion.

While the above are favorite hobbies, my all time favorite is travel.  I have been to 21 countries and will plan many many more ventures for the upcoming years.
