The Dayton ISD Band Program has seen a rebirth in both quality and quantity. Both the WWJH and DHS band programs have seen a record number of student successes in UIL Solo/Ensemble Contests with 53 HS students advancing to UIL state contest and 71 WWJH students earning 1st division ratings. The DHS Bronco Band advanced to the finals of the UIL Area Marching Contest in 2015 for the first time in history and placing 2 spots away from advancing to the UIL State Marching Contest.
For the first time in the program’s known history, the WWJH 7th grade band and the WWJH 8th grade band BOTH earned the UIL sweepstakes award in the same year (2016-2017)!
In the past three years, the DISD band program has seen nearly doubled in size with the number of students in grades 6-12.
